Why 'RedSky'
The inspiration for the organization’s name came from Steve’s love of travel and exploration, especially his time spent on the water. Whenever possible, he made a point of watching the sunrise or sunset from a boat. The light during those moments made everything seem clearer, and he often thought of an old sailor’s adage that dates back to biblical times:
“Red sky at night, sailor’s delight.
Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning.”
For generations, sailors have used that saying to read the skies and prepare for what’s ahead. The wisdom behind it resonated deeply with Steve. Just as a red sky helps sailors anticipate changing conditions, he envisioned RedSky Money as a guide to help people prepare for their own financial journey, offering clarity, confidence, and direction no matter where they are or what lies ahead.
The sturdy black hull represents the solid financial foundation and confidence we help you build for your journey ahead. Notice how the bow curves upward, it’s a reminder that you can navigate choppy waters and keep moving forward. It also captures something we love about personal finance: how small, consistent actions gain momentum and compound over time to carry you further than you’d imagine.
The red, orange, and yellow colors of the sail mirror those stunning moments when the sky lights up at dawn and dusk. Each color represents a different time horizon: your short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals. Developing a plan to achieve your goals is the power to move you forward, just like the wind in the sails drives a boat forward.
When all the parts of the boat (financial plan) work together, they propel you toward the brighter financial future you’re building.
